Definitions

SERVICE PROVIDER: Company who provides support to Retailers, Distributors, Health Practitioners, Manufacturers, or Suppliers. If you distribute packaging for use in finished goods, you are classified as Business Services. Distribution companies providing transportation, warehousing, and logistics qualify under Business Services. 

  • Service providers are distinct from raw ingredient and equipment (machinery) Suppliers, distributors and manufacturers (See Supplier definition below) 

DISTRIBUTOR: A business entity that purchases consumer-ready branded products directly from manufacturers and sells them to retailers, wholesalers, brokers, or sometimes directly to end consumers. Distributors typically maintain inventory, provide logistics services, and often cover specific geographic territories. 

BROKER: An independent sales agent or agency that represents manufacturers and facilitates transactions between manufacturers and buyers without taking ownership of the goods. Brokers earn commissions on sales and provide market intelligence, relationship management, and negotiation services.

WHOLESALER: A business that buys large quantities of goods from manufacturers or distributors and sells them in smaller quantities to retailers or other businesses. Wholesalers maintain substantial inventory and often provide value-added services like breaking bulk, warehousing, and delivery.

IMPORTER/EXPORTER: A business that specializes in selling domestic products to foreign markets. Exporters handle international logistics, customs documentation, regulatory compliance, and may provide market entry strategies for manufacturers looking to expand globally.

INVESTOR: An organization or a group of people who give capital to start or grow a business and in exchange for this, they have some control of the business and formulate agreements. 

SUPPLIER/RAW INGREDIENT or EQIPMENT DISTRIBUTOR/MANUFACTURER: A business that provides/sells/distributes raw materials, ingredients or equipment used in the manufacturing of finished, packaged natural and organic products for sale to end users; Suppliers provide components that are not yet ready for end consumers but require further processing by manufacturers.  

Event Policy for Services Providers exhibiting CPG Brands

  • May display up to two new/non-exhibiting brands per 8×10 booth space
  • May present as many brands with products that are also exhibiting in their own separate booth 
  • All new/non-exhibiting brands must go through the Standards approval procesS

All business types defined above may have a Business Services profile on Beacon.

Service Provider FAQ

As a Distributor, Broker, Importer, Wholesaler or Investor, how many brands can I display at my booth?

Distributors, Brokers, Importers, Wholesalers, or Investors you may display up to two new or non-exhibiting brands per 8×10 booth space. For these two non-exhibiting brands that you intend to display, you will need to submit the product labeling to the Standards Department at [email protected] approval. If you are featuring brands that are exhibiting in their own separate booth, you may also present these exhibiting brands in your exhibit without prior approval by Standards. These exhibiting brands should have already been approved by the Standards Department.

What is the Standards approval process for new brands?

Distributors, Brokers, Importers, Wholesaler, or Investors wanting to represent new or non-exhibiting brands, you will be responsible for submitting the product labeling to Standards for review. Please contact [email protected] for any questions or to submit the product labeling that you intend to feature at your exhibit.

Can I have a Beacon Discovery Business Services profile, and what if I'm both a service provider and manufacturer of our own brand(s) of finished products?
